MV Expedition Re-Powering

V.Delta has been appointed to support the Owner during a re-powering project, assisting him throughout the development: from the feasibility study to the engineering, from the tendering process and the contract awarding to the conversion supervision, including project management tasks, quality and cost control.

Scope of Work: The aim of the re-powering was to replace the existing two Main Engines and coupled reduction with two new Wartsila 8L26  engines and new reduction gears, with the addition of two shaft generators. The new configuration required structural, ancillary systems and electrical modifications.

Pre-Conversion Activities: V.Delta worked on this project since the beginning of 2015. Feasibility study was carried out to choose the New engines and systems to comply with owner operational requirements. The team also assisted interacting with the suppliers to find suitable technical and commercial solutions. Furthermore V.Delta focused on the finalization of Engineering phase and interacted with class for plan approval.

Conversion Period: Re-Powering works were carried-out by SGDP Shipyard in Genoa. On site Team supported  and monitored the Yard to control costs, plan activities, manage risks, inspect constructions and guarantee solid technical execution.
Time-frame was very tight to accomplish all activities therefore thanks to a full cooperation and a great team work the vessel was delivered  with excellent construction quality.
