Fleet Rejuvenation Project
V.Delta has been designated to support the Client, a major Nord European Ship Owner providing daily passenger and freight shipping service along Norway’s Cost, during the following projects development:
- Refurbishment of four coastal ships
- Conversion of an existing Ro-Pax vessel into an Explorer Vessel
V.Delta assisted the Client during the tendering process and contract awarding and is now providing advisory services on site. The team is composed by one Project Manager, two Assistant Project Managers and one Plan&Cost Controller, all supervised by the Project Leader. They monitor and support the Yard and its sub-contractors to control costs, plan activities, manage risks, supervise logistic, inspect constructions. V.Delta task is documented through a specific reporting activity defined and agreed with the Owner.
Scope of Work is the refurbishment of the public areas (e.g. two restaurants, two bars, excursion area, reception area, stairs halls) and about 130 passengers cabins on board four different ships (LOA between 105 and 123m). The idea is to renew these vessels, built in the 90’s, with a more modern Scandinavian style, reflecting the coastal landscapes of the Arctic. The new layout also required ancillary system modifications (e.g. ventilation arrangement, fire and safety system, electrical arrangement).
Conversion Period: V.Delta worked on this project since September 2015. Two vessels have been successfully refurbished between January and March 2016. Works on board the third ship will start at the end of March while the upgrade of last vessel has been planned for October.
Scope of Work is to convert an existing 100m long Ro-Pax vessel into a modern Explorer Vessel with 355 passengers, 62 crew members. The intent is to upgrade some areas and convert others to fit Owners’ operations and market standards: a coastal ship and explorer vessel in the Arctic and Antarctic areas, depending on the period of the year. Key items of the conversion are: new General Arrangement, new Zodiac area, new provisions zone, achievement of ice class 1C, new bulbous bow, addition of ducktail, insertion of panoramic fwd mooring area, reshaping of aft end of the vessel, USPH compliance, systems upgrade or addition for new areas.
Conversion Period: V.Delta worked on this project since September 2015 and the vessel re-delivery has been planned for the end of May 2016.
